How to Measure for Skirting Kits Please choose one of the categories below:
1. Measure all sides of your home. A 16 x 76 size home will total up to 184 lineal feet (LF). That is (2) 16 ft sides and (2) 76 ft sides. To add a deck measure the two sides coming away from the home (i.e. a 6x8 deck would be (2) sides of 6 ft.) The total amount of running feet around the home will help you know how much skirting you will need.
2. Take your total LF and divide by 11. This will tell you how many pieces of each of the trim you will need. A 16 x 76 home, 184 LF, requires 17 pieces of top back, top front, and ground channel trim, or one Rail Kit (containing 15 pieces) plus 2 extra pieces of each trim component. (Example: 184 divided by 11 is 16.73, or 17 full pieces of trim.)
3. Using a yardstick, measure the height of the home from the ground to a point 2 inches above the bottom of the home's siding. Take a measurement at each of the four corners, total up the measurements, and divide by 4. (example: 30 + 34 + 34 + 31= 129 total inches divided by 4= 32.25" average height). If your home sits on uneven ground it is better to take more measurements. Remember: add up all your measurements and then divide by the number of measurements to determine the average height!
4. Multiply the total footage (LF) by .75 to determine the number of panel cuts needed to cover the home. (184 LF x .75= 138 panel cuts). Panel cuts are made from full panels, so your average height will tell you how many cuts you can get from a full panel. Use this simple chart to calculate the number of panels:
Up to 23" Avg: LF x .75 divided by 6 28"-35" Avg: LF x .75 divided by 4 23"-28" Avg: LF x .75 divided by 5 35"-46" Avg: LF x .75 divided by 3 So, for a 16 x 76 home at a 33" average height, 184 LF x .75 = 138 panels cuts divided by 4= 34.5, or 35 full panels.
5. You will need hex screws to secure the panels and top trim. Plan on using 2.75 screws for each lineal foot, so: 184 lf x 2.75 = 506 hex screws needed.
6. You will need ground spikes to secure the ground channel into soil. Plan on 7 spikes for each 11-foot piece of ground channel, so: 17 pieces of ground channel x 7 = 119 spikes.
It's that easy! But let's review:
1. Measure for LF (total lineal feet)
2. LF divided by 11= Total trims pieces
3. LF x .75 divided by x (# of cuts from panel based on average height)= Total panels needed.
4. LF x 2.75= Total hex screws needed.
5. Total pieces of trim x 7= Total ground spikes needed.
Based on box size lineal footage (LF). Material quantities change with height variations. Pick the panel column that reflects your average height. Determine average height with several measurements from ground to 1-2” overlap on siding. Consult our skirting representative for special quotes. See below chart for special notes.

Panels taller than 48" require interior bracing. We recommend using steel "J" ground channel for bracing.
Decks require extra materials. For decks, add the lengths of the two sides running out from home to total lineal feet, and refer to chart.
To cover a hitch, add 8 feet to total lineal feet. (1) steel Ground Channel and (1) steel Corner Piece are recommended for bracing and covering one hitch. For sturdier hitch covers, use Wood Bracing.
Ground channel can be combined with Lifetime Top front trim for added protection from weed trimmers.
For homes sitting on inclines, plan on using extra ground channel. For sloped ramps and sides of steps, plan on using extra top trim.
Based on box size lineal footage (LF) at a 32" average height. Material quantities may change with height variations. Consult our skirting representative for special quotes.
Helpful Notes:
Panel counts based on average heights of 32"- 48". See notes above regarding decks and hitches. Actual panel width: 57.5". 48" x 60" panels can be turned 90 degrees to become 60" x 48" (Actual width of this panel is 46.5"). Panels taller than 48" may require interior bracing. Determine average height with several measurements from ground to bottom of siding. 48" x 60" panels can be cut in half and used for average heights of 30" or less. Holes can be drilled into panel for extra ventilation. Chart does not include rock doors, which are 32" wide and can be used in lieu of 1/2 panel.
